More and more people are choosing to remember charities when writing their will and their generosity changes lives.
A legacy left to Jewish Child’s Day enabled us to complete work on a bomb shelter for a kindergarten in Ashkelon which is within range of missiles from Gaza. Here, in the UK, a legacy helped us to equip a children’s centre that offers support and a safe nurturing environment to children with special needs, children at risk, or living through a crisis such as the illness of a parent.
It is a myth that only large sums of money are of value. The truth is every penny can make a real difference to the lives of those in need.
Whatever the size of your legacy, it is important to know that any donation is exempt from inheritance tax. So, by leaving a legacy to charity you can reduce the amount of tax payable on your estate and ensure that the Inland Revenue doesn’t become its largest beneficiary.
